Friends of Dave Committee Update

Dave Tousignant Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser Concert and Chelmsford High School Wrestling Mat Dedication Ceremony Update:

For the past six weeks the “Friends of Dave Committee” ( T F O D C ) have been diligently and earnestly working together, meeting every week to assure that everyone supporting this cause will be completely satisfied with each presentation, the concert and the wrestling mat dedication. They have been throughout the Chelmsford community seeking donations, posting advertisements, acquiring raffle gifts and selling tickets for the fundraiser.

On Friday, December 11th at 7:00pm at the Performing Arts Center, Chelmsford High School there will be the Fundraiser that will feature a professional twenty-five piece orchestra performing big band Jazz arrangements such as, Cab Callaway Boogie, Jumpin Jive, Two Close for Comfort and the always popular, In the Mood. Also there will be a great mixture of seasonal Christmas music such as, Grown Up Christmas List, The Christmas Song, Let it Snow, I’ll be home for Christmas and a fantastic finale of Emmanuel’s Light. This music will be performed by eight professional vocalists. We are also pleased to have three guest speakers, former Chelmsford High School Coach Randy Whitehead, Coach Gerry Shrock and Massachusetts Wrestling Hall of Famer Coach George Bossi of Lowell High School. Each coach will reflect on the wrestling rivalry between Lowell and Chelmsford and of course their memories of Dave. The highlight of the evening will be a beautiful video presentation of Dave and the many people he befriended (compliments of AVR Photography and Video and Paul Aronian). The evening will conclude with a raffle. Ticket winners will be chosen throughout the night. Our host for the evening will be one of New England’s finest entertainer’s, Mr. Jack Knox.

On Saturday, December 12th at 3:00pm, inside the Chelmsford High School Gymnasium, during the CHS wrestling teams first dual meet of the season against Westford Academy, there will be a dedication ceremony honoring Dave as one of Chelmsford High’s most outstanding athletes. Taking part in this ceremony will be State Representative Tim Golden, members of the Chelmsford Board of Selectman and the Chelmsford School Committee, representatives from the Chelmsford Alumni Ass., the Superintendant of Schools, Dr. Donald Yeoman, CHS Athletic Director, Jack Fletcher along with other state and town dignitaries. Hosting this ceremony will be former CHS teacher Ed Quinn and guest speaker will be Coach Randy Whitehead. The highlight of this ceremony will be the presentation of a new CHS Wrestling Mat inscribed with Dave’s name, wrestling record and the name given to Dave by his friends and peers “The Heart of a Lion”. The scholarship awards will be given to male and female athlete’s of the year. These awards will be accepted on behalf of CHS by Superintendant of Schools, Dr. Yeoman.

Both of these events will be a tremendous tribute to a special man, who touched many of his friends and will continue to reach others by the gifts given to CHS in his name.

The friends of Dave committee is asking that all of his family, friends, co-workers, former classmates and the Chelmsford community join us in helping to make this a memorable and successful weekend in honor of Dave.

Thank you,
“T F O D C”
