The Situation as of Today

As most of you know, Dave was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma on Monday, January 29th, just 24 days after his 54th birthday. Up to this point, he had no medical history as he has been the picture of health all of his life. Questioning the reasons 'why' seems moot. Focusing our energies on his comfort is more important. Because of the Myeloma, which is a cancer of the plasma cell in the bone marrow, he has sustained multiple compression fractures in his vertebrae and he is in renal failure. His docs are bombarding him with Chemotherapy, and a combination of two drugs that will 'kill' existing protein cells and 'prevent' the growth of new ones. That seems to be working. As of yesterday, his blood count is improving. That is good news. He does have his overall health going for him. His spirits are very good, considering the situation. Ultimately, getting him better does not mean that he will be able to return to work. He is a self-employed finish carpenter, a very talented one. One of the drawbacks to being self-employed is that when you are not working there is no income. So, we have set up an account at Bank of America for those of you who would like to do something and don't know what that is. Money is going to get pretty tight for him and his wife Kathy pretty soon. This is something that we can all do for them. The amount that you can give doesn't matter. Anything will help. And at times like these we all feel like we want to do something to fix the 'bad'. Luckily, he has great docs that are trying to fix the medical 'bad', and we, as their friends, can help fix the other stuff.
So, with that said, you can drop by your local branch of Bank of America and make a donation, or you can mail a check to Bank of America, 105 Main St, Pepperell, MA 01463. The checks should be made out to 'David Tousignant Fund' and in the endorsement section on the back of the check please write 'for deposit only-acct#004607559442'. You can also transfer funds online. If none of these work for you, you can contact us at 978=433=9262 or at manystrz@yahoo.com and we will work something out.
Please feel free to post your comments here. This blog has been set up for all of us to communicate with each other concerning Dave and his family.

Keep a good thought.
